Blake Zalar
Offensive line · Shamokin Area, class of 2019 · Penn State
Blake Zalar is a Shamokin Area offensive lineman who played at Penn State. PennLive reported in May 2019 that the Shamokin Area lineman was joining the Nittany Lions as a preferred walk-on after he had been set to take a preferred walk-on offer from Rutgers.
Penn State's roster bio lists him from Coal Township, a four-year letterman at Shamokin Area for head coach Henry Hynoski, a first-team all-state pick in Class 3A as a senior, and a two-time all-Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference lineman. The bio says he made his first appearance against Rutgers on Nov. 20, 2021.
The Daily Collegian reported in 2022 that Zalar was medically retiring after three surgeries in a year, that he had appeared in one game in three seasons, that he was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, and that he was joining the staff as an undergraduate assistant with the offensive line.
