Shamokin District 4 football playoff history
PIAA District IV's football champions page, as fetched Oct. 20, 2026, runs from the 1986-87 school year through 2025-26. Shamokin is the listed champion nine times. The class columns changed names over the years. A 1991-92 Class 3A title is the fall of 1991.
The 2002-03 Class 3A cell on that page reads Mifflinburg, Shamokin. PA Football News's District 4 champion list names only Mifflinburg for 2002. Sports Illustrated's Nov. 9, 2025 account says Mifflinburg shared the 2002 title with Shamokin because there were no district playoffs. The Times Leader's game from that November is the District 2-4 Class 3A championship, Pittston Area 7, Shamokin 6, and the 2002 season page carries it. A championship-game score for 1989 or 1996 was not in the sources used here. The 1996 season page covers the Sept. 27 Anthracite League win over Marian Catholic.
State-playoff scores below are the Shamokin games in the PIAA results book for 1988 through 2014, plus later games from the season pages. A district title and a state score are not the same thing. Shamokin can be the district champion and still lose the first state game. The 2010 semifinal, the 2014 opener, both 2018 games, and the 2020, 2021, and 2022 games are on the list because a paper printed them. They are not extra district titles.
