Shamokin Football 2022 Season

PA Football News lists Shamokin 5-6 in 2022 with Henry Hynoski as head coach and a league record of 4-5. The Republican Herald's Aug. 19, 2023 results log also prints 5-6 overall and says the Heartland Division I record was 2-3. Those two league lines are left as each source printed them.

The Herald's log, with Shamokin's score first: at Lewisburg 13-9, Southern Columbia 0-43, Mifflinburg 21-35, at Selinsgrove 7-10, Central Mountain 47-28, Shikellamy 57-27, at Jersey Shore 0-62, at Central Columbia 14-0, Nanticoke 46-14, and at Mount Carmel 0-41. The District 4 Class 4A semifinal is at Jersey Shore, Shamokin 12, Jersey Shore 63. The log does not name a Shamokin player.

EasternPAFootball's Oct. 22, 2022 story, by Matt Beltz, is the Friday night before that Mount Carmel game. Shamokin beat Greater Nanticoke 46-14 at Shamokin. The Herald log lists the same score as Nanticoke 46-14. The box has Greater Nanticoke 4-5 and Shamokin 5-4, quarters 7-0-0-7 and 19-14-13-0. Brett Nye was 11 of 13 for 179 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. His first throw was intercepted. Knowledge Artis-Jones ran 11 times for 118 yards and two scores. Ryder Zulkowski caught three passes for 80 yards and three touchdowns, from 33, 24, and 23 yards. Colton Lynch caught an 18-yard touchdown. Wisdom Artis-Jones scored from 11 yards.

Greater Nanticoke did not complete a pass. The team line is 0 of 4 for no yards and two interceptions, and 36 rushes for 123 yards. Shamokin had 13 first downs, 27 rushes for 154 yards, and 179 passing yards. Zulkowski intercepted Jaylin Collins twice. The Herald's Aug. 19, 2023 profile of Marc Persing says that in the Selinsgrove game, Brad Latshaw completed 9 of 16 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown and ran 10 times for 53 yards. That is one line from a later preview. The results log lists that game as Shamokin 7, Selinsgrove 10.
