1955–1959
Shamokin football in the 1950s
PA Football News is the source for Shamokin's lines from 1955 through 1959, and it names no coach. League records on those lines are blank, so none is printed here. The best mark in the stretch is 1958, at 9-0-1. Shamokin was also 10-3 in 1957, 8-2-1 in 1959, 7-4 in 1955, and 6-5 in 1956.
These are Shamokin High School seasons, before the Shamokin Area Indians. PA Football News says the Coal Township and Shamokin districts merged in 1964. The Daily Item says they consolidated in 1965. The only game with a sourced write-up in this stretch is Coal Township's 14-12 win in 1955, on the 1955 page. The Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame says Joe Thompson was all-Keystone League as an end and a linebacker in 1955 and 1956. That honor is not a 1956 game story, so 1956 stays on this page.
