Head coach Tim Montgomery. Eastern Conference Class A champion
PA Football News lists Shamokin 11-1 in 1975 with Tim Montgomery as head coach and a league record of 3-1. EasternPAFootball's Eastern Conference championship table lists the 1975 Class A final as Dunmore 20, Shamokin 33. A News-Item obituary for Montgomery says he guided Shamokin Area to an Eastern Conference championship in 1975. A 2015 Times-Tribune flashback says Dunmore, the Big 11 champion, chose that Eastern Conference Class A final against Shamokin.
Coal Region Voice's Sept. 9, 2010 account of a halftime reunion dates the Dunmore game to Dec. 6, 1975, at Kemp Memorial Stadium. It names assistants Joe Gubernot, Harry Reed, Dave Kopitsky, and George Dorko, and it names Tim Fanella and Phil Manney as the last Shamokin players to make the Big 33. The same account's regular-season slate is 10 wins and a loss to Mount Carmel, which with the Dunmore win is 11-1. It says Dan Klebon threw for a two-point conversion against Pottsville, and that the Week 10 win at Berwick's Crispin Field clinched the Southern Division.
That slate's Mount Carmel line is Shamokin 0, Mount Carmel 34. Mount Carmel's own archive lists the same score on Nov. 14, 1975, with Mount Carmel away. The blog quotes Mount Carmel coach Jazz Diminick on switching defenses that day after linebacker Greg Sacavage was hurt.
