The Republican Herald's Aug. 30, 2013 story, by Chuck Souders, is opening night at Kemp Memorial Stadium: Pottsville 41, Shamokin 13. Tom McGeoy and Yaacov Yisrael were both in their first year. Pottsville broke a 6-6 tie with two scores in the final three minutes of the half and led 20-6 at halftime. Travis Blankenhorn caught five passes for 182 yards and scored from 57 and 87 yards. Darion Jacoby returned a kickoff 71 yards, ran 16 times for 83 yards, and scored from 3. Freshman Alex Washuta's 32-yard field goal went wide right. Erik Taylor fumbled at the end of a 24-yard run, and Pottsville took over at the 13.

John Demsko ran 50 yards to the 4, and Tucker Yost scored from the 1. After Jacoby's return, Tyler Moser scored from the 1. Jacoby's 3-yard run with about a minute left made it 20-6. Blankenhorn's 87-yard catch, on third-and-23, made it 27-6. Quentin Chambers caught a 4-yard touchdown on fourth-and-7, and the score was 34-6. Shane Willians returned the kickoff 48 yards, and Taylor scored from 2 yards on an eight-play, 35-yard drive. The story's last named play is that run. The final is 41-13. Pottsville was called for 13 penalties and 110 yards, eight of them in the first quarter. Yisrael said the score did not reflect who they were.

EasternPAFootball's Sept. 7, 2013 story, by William Albright, is Friday night at Kemp Memorial Stadium: Jersey Shore 33, Shamokin 14. The story does not name the Shamokin coach. Tom Gravish was the Jersey Shore coach. The story says Shore had come up short in 13 straight tries before this game. After both teams failed to score on their first two possessions, Jersey Shore took over on its 29. Utoa Agae-Naipo ran 47 yards on first down. On fourth down from the Shamokin 18, Logan English hit Derek Leese for 18 yards. English's extra point made it 7-0 with 37 seconds left in the first quarter. In the second quarter a short punt went out of bounds at the Indian 10. Agae-Naipo scored from 1 yard with three seconds left in the half, and English's kick made it 14-0.

Shamokin's first possession of the third quarter went 82 yards in four plays. Draven Miller scored from 6 yards. That is the only Shamokin score the story names. The final is 33-14.
