Shamokin Football 2014 Season

PA Football News lists Shamokin 5-6 in 2014 with Pat DiRienzo as head coach and a league record of 3-5. The Republican Herald's Nov. 7, 2014 story is the District 4 Class AAA playoff opener at Jersey Shore: Jersey Shore 37, Shamokin 0. The box score has Shamokin at 5-6 and Jersey Shore at 11-0.

DiRienzo told the paper the plan was to stop Levi Lorson, who had scored three touchdowns and rushed for 246 yards in the teams' first meeting. Lorson finished this game with 172 yards on 36 carries and no score. Logan English threw a 14-yard touchdown to Brody Smith, with Koch's kick, and a 42-yard touchdown to Leese, with the kick blocked. Koch then kicked a 33-yard field goal. English scored from 5 yards, Charles scored from 5, and Bashaw returned a fumble 4 yards. Shamokin gained 99 yards, had 6 first downs, and turned the ball over three times. The individual line lists Yost at 7 of 16 for 61 yards and two interceptions, and Demsko at 14 carries for 43 yards. Josiah Miller had 20 tackles. Offensive lineman Matt Fabian left with a leg injury. DiRienzo said he was hired in June after a 0-10 season, and that five wins were five more than the year before.
