Head coach

Marc Persing

2023–2026. Record 30-8 before 2026.

Marc Persing is the head coach on the sourced Shamokin seasons for 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. Completed seasons on those lines add to 30-8. The 2026 season is 8-0 through Oct. 16 and is not in that total.

The Republican Herald's Aug. 19, 2023 profile, by Charlie Roth, says Persing is a 2009 Shamokin graduate and was the Indians' quarterback. It was his first season as Shamokin's head coach. He had been the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on Henry Hynoski's staff the season before. Hynoski had resigned to become the high school principal at Southern Columbia. The opener that Friday was against Lewisburg, the school where Persing first served as a head coach.

The same story says he guided Lewisburg to an 18-24 record over four seasons, including a District 4 Class 3A semifinal in 2018. PA Football News lists those Lewisburg seasons as 4-7 in 2017, 7-5 in 2018, 5-6 in 2019, and 2-6 in 2020, which add to 18-24. The Standard-Journal's Nov. 19, 2020 story, by Brian Holtzapple, says Persing resigned as Lewisburg's coach that Tuesday evening, effective immediately, after four years, because teaching and coaching in two school districts had become too much.

EasternPAFootball's Aug. 25, 2026 preview credits the 2025 District 4 Class 4A title and a PIAA quarterfinal loss to Southern Lehigh. The News-Item credited the 2024 district title, a 28-27 overtime win over Jersey Shore at Kemp Memorial Stadium.
