Shamokin football in the 1960s

From 1960 through 1964, PA Football News has a Shamokin record and no coach: 5-6, 5-6, 6-5 and league 4-1, 2-6 and league 2-3, then 5-6 and league 4-2. League lines that are blank on the table are left blank here.

1965 is the first Shamokin Area season. The Daily Item says Ed Binkoski led that team to 10-1 and that the only loss was to Shikellamy. PA Football News lists 10-1, league 7-1, and Binkoski through 1969: 8-3 and league 4-2 in 1966, 6-4 and 3-1 in 1967, 9-1-1 and 3-0-1 in 1968, and 3-7 and 0-3 in 1969. EasternPAFootball's championship list in this decade is Coal Township, not Shamokin Area: a 1961 forfeit over Old Forge and a 1964 loss to Blakely, 7-27. Those scores stay off the Shamokin Area season pages. Shamokin's Eastern Conference title in the stretch that follows is 1975.

The District IV coaches hall of fame says Binkoski coached Coal Township from 1961 to 1964, coached Shamokin Area for six years after the jointure, and retired after the 1970 season. PA Football News lists Joe Thiroway, not Binkoski, for 1970.
